~ Curbside Shopping ~

One of my favorite places to shop
and where you ALWAYS get the best price (FREE) is in the trash!!
One night on the way to the store I spotted this little beauty!!
I couldn't see any of the detail, but I knew she was a keeper.

I informed my husband that if it was still there when we got back we were going to get it...
He didn't like that plan.....AT ALL!!
I was so excited to to see her still there when we returned
around 11 pm or so!!!
He was not as excited... in fact I think his very words were

 NOOOOOO, NOOOOOO, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I was giddy with excitement... Scotty, not so much...
So after lots of begging and pleading
he agreed to help me carry it home.
To me it was a rush!!  To him it was a different kind of rush, lol!!
"Hurry up before they see us carrying off their trash!!"
:))  I loved every minute of it!!!

There was also a wicker chair that we brought home with it but it was in such bad shape I knew it was way beyond my ability to fix.  I would love to learn how to repair wicker furniture (and I know one day I will be kicking myself for getting rid of it) but I just needed the room in the garage for all of the other projects I have going on at the moment!!
So hopefully someone with wicker skills came to its rescue.

I love the little flowers carved in the back.

After lots of drilling, gluing, filling, sanding, and painting
she looks beautiful!!
Not perfect by any means, but beautiful!!

I love the way it looks against my tiny pink fairy roses.

Here are some before pictures.
The wood was so dilapidated and crumbly.
But I could see her beauty beyond the rotted wood.
Scotty asked how much I was going to sell it for and
I told him I wasn't going to sell it...
Can you see his eyes rolling :))
hahahaha!!

Nope, I think she looks gorgeous right where she is!!
She is there to greet me every time I pull into the drive way and makes me very happy!!

I am dedicating this post to my friend and my neighbor, Meme.
She gave me a good laugh today about a piece of furniture she picked out of my trash.
You can read about it on her blog at Screaming Meme.
We need to start dumpster diving together!!
I have a trailer and I know how to pull it :))
(Not so good at backing up yet... but I'm working on it!!!)

I love that you have a trailer and know how to pull it. I have a mini and can't fit anything inside it at all. But I love my little car. I use the hubby's car for larger projects ;)

Mr. Dumpling would probably just have passed out from the trauma of it all. He's such a stickler for rules and things...like he never jaywalks. Who never jaywalks? Love love the bench!

haha....loved this post. After all these years my Bobby G. wants to hunt for treasures (yard sale) with me. Took him forever to decide it was cool with all the good stuff I find. But I never see anything good curbside free. Your find and transformation is just wonderful! :) ~ Lynn @thevintagenest.com

This is fabulous! My husband calls it curbside reclaiming :)

I ended-up loading my car (while wearing four inch heels) up with a 1930's dresser and my one year old "helping me" last night.
